Whisky Live Glasgow 2008 Review
Held again in the fantastic SECC, visitors were eager to learn about the secrets of the water of life at the only whisky show of its kind in Scotland and to experience the fantastic new features at the show.
This year Whisky Live Glasgow helped Whisky Magazine celebrate 10 years in print and joined forces with The Macallan to produce a stunning 10 Years Old whisky that went on sale for the first time at the show. One of the 300 limited edition bottles was presented to Mr & Mrs Garratt who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by attending the show.Congratulations to them once again.
In the masterclass rooms, visitors got the chance to take a more in depth look at the world of the dram hosted by an array of some of the most knowledgeable people in the whisky producing world.Master blender, Richard Paterson held a hugely successful and entertaining session explaining how the new range of Dalmore has its exceptional quality added to by being aged in sherry wood and Whisky Magazine’s tasting expert,Martine Nouet held a masterclass matching whisky with some sumptuous desserts. To top the occasion, the entries from the ‘Independent Bottlers’ Challenge’, (the only such competition to run in the world) were available to sample. These unique whiskies, from companies who specialise in independent bottling, are a true pleasure and rare opportunity to try with so many being together at one time under one roof.
