TOKYO 2008 Review
You get told that WL Tokyo is quite an event, possibly the largest whisky show held on the planet over one day, but nothing quite prepares you for the real thing. Regular readers of Whisky Magazine will know that Japanese whisky is starting to make real waves in the West, but this does not emulate the Japanese drinkers’ passion for Scotch and indeed all things whisky.
Tokyo 2007 Review
Whisky is officially alive and well in Japan. Any possible doubts there might previously have been were dispelled at Tokyo Big Sight on Sunday 18th February when more than 3,600 people braved the weather and the Tokyo Marathon crowds to attend the seventh Whisky Magazine Live! in Tokyo.
Tokyo 2006 Review
The 6th Live! in Tokyo was held on Sunday February 12th, 2006, again at Tokyo Big Sight, and was the biggest and best Live! yet. There were nearly 40 booths in the Tasting Area, a full program of 23 Masterclasses, musical entertainment from Scotland's own "Three Tenors", book-signings by Michael Jackson and Dave Broom, plus much more besides.
Tokyo 2005 Review
The 5th Live!, in February 2005, attracted over 2,300 people to a full program including 22 Masterclasses, Japanese & Western Tasting Zones, a Whisky Cocktail bar with lady bartenders mixing and shaking cocktails based upon Japanese whiskies, demonstrations by Japanese cocktail champions and a top London mixologist, and a “Celebration of Whisky”, featuring the musical talents of Tokyo FM’s DJ Kaori.
Tokyo 2003 Review
Whisky Live in Japan attracted more than 1,000 visitors as it celebrated its fifth year – and a host of other anniversaries. The event opened with a welcome speech from the British Ambassador, Sir Stephen Gommersall, at the VIP reception. The Ambassador took the opportunity to mix with many representatives of the whisky industry.
Tokyo 2002 Review
Put together nearly 20 distillery managers, whisky writers, brand ambassadors and private bottlers, add the haunting tones of Islay’s most famous chanteuse, and the result is equally unpredictable. Fortunately the Whisky Magazine cocktail shaker was in fine form on the day. As soon as panellers were led out into the Opening Seminar to the strains of Stayin’Alive, participants knew they were in for something a little different this year.
