Whisky Live Paris 2006 Review
In Paris Whisky Live attracted record crowds of enthusiasts and beginners. Following hot on the heels of last year’s runaway success, which was completely sold out, attracting more than 1,800 private visitors and 1,200 professionals, the 2006 event was expanded accordingly. This year, the exceptional show was spread out across three days, For the third year in a row, the prestigious Palais Brongniart - Bourse de Paris spotlighted the leading producer countries: Scotland, Ireland, United States, Japan, France, Wales and India, amongst the many companies and exhibitors. La Maison du Whisky and Whisky Magazine again rose to the challenge of bringing together more than fifty distilleries and as many exclusive single casks, specially selected for the occasion. La Maison du Whisky celebrated itsfiftieth anniversary during the Whisky Live fair. The release of the 2007 Collection catalogue was also scheduled for this occasion. One great stand that was marked on everyone’s visiting cards was Giuseppe Begnoni – the famous Italian collector – who brought 150 of his 40,000 bottles collection to exhibit. He sold about 200 drams in all ranging from 4 to 40 euros. Preparations are already underway for next year’s events, which promise to raise the bar yet again and bring the greatest celebration of whisky in the world back to Scotland and Paris.
