Paris 2013

On the 28th, 29th & 30th of September, more than 150 brands from the Whisky & Spirits industry were gathered in a unique venue around the " Beyond Tasting" theme.

For the tenth edition of Whisky Live Paris, which took place at La Maison de la Mutualité, the boundaries of traditional tasting methods were pushed back to offer an anniversary edition which really took us "Beyond".

A few statistics from Whisky Live Paris 2013

With more than 2500 m² dedicated to experiments and tasting, Whisky Live Paris 2013 held its promise and offered both amateurs and industry professionals a truly unique experience. Gathering together more than 150 brands during the three day show, over 3500 amateurs during the week-end and 2000 professionals on Monday had the occasion to taste over 950 different products.

An edition full of discoveries

Divided into 3 dedicated areas – Great Whisky Nations, Independent Bottlers and Whiskies of the World –visitors to the Whisky section rediscovered their favourite classics but also tasted numerous novelties such as Redbreast 21 yo., Kavalan Fino Sherry Cask, Kilchoman 2007, Yoichi 88 and acquaint themselves with the justreleased brand Tormore.

As for the Spirits section - rum, cognac, armagnac, calvados, gin, vodka, tequila, mezcal, absinthe, crèmes & liqueurs, shochu & umeshu, eaux-de-vie, grappa & pisco – Whisky Live Paris 2013 gave visitors a chance to understand and appreciate its diversity and richness whilst familiarizing themselves with new brands, e.g. Rum Clairin , Dodd’s Gin, Konik’s Tail Vodka or Polugar, a spirit produced according to an ancient Russian tradition.

Finally, the connoisseurs could enjoy the rare bottlings offered exceptionally in the Collectors’ Bar.

41 masterclasses animated by renowned experts

On 3 dedicated topics - whisky, spirits & cocktails - 41 masterclasses were hosted by well-known experts. From Dave Broom (Whisky Magazine & Fine Spirits) to Luca Gargano (Velier), passing by Charles MacLean, Richard Paterson (Dalmore) or Simon Difford (editor in chief of « Class Magazine » and author of the famous « Difford’s Guide Gocktail ») and Colin Field (The Ritz’s Head Barman); these numerous speakers, their topical and detailed analysis disguised by their witty dialogue, added an extra dimension to Whisky Live Paris 2013.

A whole floor dedicated to experiments

On the top floor, visitors travelled inside the warehouse of the independent bottler Signatory Vintage and have discovered limited editions of the Great King Street from Compass Box through a tasting in the dark. The Classic Malts & Food stand, as well as the Whisky & Food area, questioned visitors’ taste buds thanks to gourmet food pairings. And last but not least, Jim Meehan and his barmen from Please Don’t Tell - emblematic bar from New-York - crossed the Atlantic to serve 12 cocktails created especially for the occasion.
