Whisky Live London 2005 Review
Whisky Live London 2005 hailed a success
The show will move to a neighbouring but substantially bigger hall after this year’s event sold out weeks early and scores of potential visitors had to be turned away. Whisky Live, a two day celebration of whisky at which consumers can meet producers and distillers from around the world and taste the leading brands, was held in the capital this week for the fifth time. Hundreds of whisky enthusiasts travelled from across Europe and Japan to attend the event, which attracts exhibitors from Scotland, Ireland, America and Japan. Many visitors also attended masterclasses on a variety of whisky-related subjects. The event is organised by Paragraph Publishing, who publish Whisky Magazine. Commenting on the success of the show, the company’s managing director Damian Riley-Smith said the success of the show reflected the increased awareness and interest in premium whiskies. “Whisky is enjoying a fresh wave of popularity at the moment,” he said. “And not just whisky from Scotland. And with so many exciting new launches and product developments we expect the interest to continue. We are delighted to be welcoming old friends back each year but we need to cater for new visitors too, so we are looking to put on a bigger event next year.” Whisky Live is now held in Tokyo, Glasgow, New York, Capetown, Johannesburg, San Francisco and Paris as well as London.
