Whisky enthusiasts from all over the globe gathered in London for the world’s premier whisky experience, Whisky Live.
Organisers, Whisky Magazine, recorded an attendance uplift of around 7% at the event, which took place from 23rd – 24th March at the Honourable Artillery Company in London.
The event saw 40 of the very best whisky producers sampling a collection of over 200 whiskies to visitors. From old favourites to unusual finishes and rare bottlings, there was something to suit every palate.
Crowds gathered for Japanese producer, Nikka, who, for the fourth year running, was awarded ‘World’s Best Blended Malt’ for Taketsuru 21 Years Old at the World Whiskies Awards. Glenlivet also drew attention as visitors were invited to become a Guardian of The Glenlivet and were treated to a private tasting of the rare and majestic XXV.
A timetable of masterclasses, hosted by industry experts including Jonny McCormick, Ronnie Cox, Colin Dunn from Diageo, Richard Paterson, Neil Ridley, Joel Harrison, Hamish Torrie from Glenmorangie and, Jamie Milne from Glenfiddich, provided a unique insight into the world of whisky. Each class explored a dedicated area of whisky from food matching to introductions to a range of bespoke whiskies including the world’s most collectable Highland, Islay and Speyside Malts.
This year, Cocktails Live joined Whisky Live for the very first time. Award-winning mixologists were on-hand to sample a selection of innovative cocktails including Tequila Verdita – a shot of Tequila chased with a blend of coriander, mint, chilli, and pineapple juice, and a series of blended whisky cocktails by Monkey Shoulder.
Hosted in 17 countries around the world, Whisky Live is the international celebration of whisky bringing all the whiskies of the world under one roof. Offering the unique opportunity to sample the greatest whiskies in the world, Whisky Live has something for everyone from the uninitiated newcomer to the whisky enthusiast.
